Ever since its creation, JCI USA and the Fourth of July holiday has been as American as hotdogs and baseball. And why not? It is a community celebration that provides a lot of opportunity for young people to become involved and gain leadership development, all the while providing a needed service! From fireworks shows that not only entertain but also bring in money for community efforts, to parades and various carnivals to celebrate the holiday and summer, JCI USA members really go all out in helping America celebrate its birthday.
Even in Hawaii, JCI Hawaii members have become involved in these community celebrations. Chapters all over the state has made the holiday a great time to both put on great projects as well as help develop their members. A few examples of projects held include the 4 th of July fireworks show in Hilo Bay, held by the Lehua Jaycees and Hawaii Kai being a founding partner in the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay fair and fireworks celebration in Hawaii Kai.
Although not every chapter can put on a fireworks show or hold a fair to celebrate the 4 th , there have been other, more simple ways to let the members know that a party is going on. From picnics on the beach or in the parks to being part of larger community organization celebrations, the members of JCI USA very much know that when it’s the 4th of July, its party time!
