Leadership Opportunities

We are currently looking for individuals who are are interested in gaining experience as a member of a board of directors for a Not-for-Profit organization. No experience is necessary.

Basic Requirements

In order to serve on the Hawaii Kai Jaycees Board of Directors, a potential candidate must be a current member of the chapter or meet qualifications to become a member of the chapter.

Potential candidates may visit the December General Membership Meeting to learn more about the organization and leadership needs. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 18th from 7:00PM-8:00PM at HawaiiUSA FCU, Kahala. Otherwise, potential candidates will need to schedule a meeting with the Chapter President. Those who serve on the Board have a term of one year.

Available Board Positions (as of November 24, 2019)

EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED: These positions are meant to help members develop desired skills in addition to helping the organization. As long as a person is interested in learning, responsibilities and skills can be taught.

Executive Vice-President – Deputy to the President and stands in as Chief Officer in the absence of the President. Coordinates with the other Officers regarding chapter operations, membership, and sister chapter relations. Maintains database of chapter resources and credentials.

Secretary – In charge of meeting agendas, minutes, archives, inventory, checking the PO Box, signing off on financial documents with the Treasurer, and coordinates with the VP of Marketing in regards to communications and public relations.

Treasurer – Officer with the duty to maintain financial records, assists President with tax reporting and insurance renewals, coordinating general fundraising initiatives, and assisting with special fundraising projects needed by special programs and projects.

Vice-President of Membership Development – Immediate contact for the membership, in charge of understanding the needs of the members, coordinates events and projects for members, and in collaboration with the VP of Marketing and EVP in charge of recruitment. Helps plan General Membership Meetings as well as lead socials and networking events.

Vice-President of Community Development – In charge of maintaining relationships with organizations that the chapter has helped, coordinates annual service projects (such as the HPH Women’s 10K, Moiliili Bon Dance, Adopt-a-School Day, and KMC Keiki Christmas Carnival), and reviews other potential avenues of community impact.

Vice-President of International Development – Serves as the main point of contact for JCI Nagoya (normally through LINE), coordinates events and projects related to sister chapter relations, implements participation of JCI Nagoya’s 3G Project and collaborates with the Treasurer for fundraising for 3G, Japanese language ability a plus but not required, implements other opportunities of international development for members.

Vice-President of Marketing – Responsible for the maintenance of the chapter website and social media, chief editor of the chapter newsletter, coordinates with other Officers and Project Chairs on marketing events and projects, maintains media archive, and works with members to document experiences with the Jaycees.
