The 25th President

A Message from the President

Aloha!

My name is Joei R, Gomez, and I am the proud President of the Hawaii Kai Jaycees. As president, I am duty bound to serve my chapter to the best of my ability. This responsibility is not taken lightly.

I believe in this organization and its proud history. The Junior Chamber of Commerce has existed since 1915, and I believe in its mission with all my heart. In this day and age, it is very important to not live a complacent life, but to always be curious and hungry to grow. I believe it is important to inspire young people, to empower them so that they can not only be proud of themselves, but of all the good that they have and can do as an individual. To be a true Jaycee, means having the desire to grow and knowing that growth also means contributing back to society. “Service to Humanity, is the best work of life.” This is the last line of the Jaycee Creed, and perhaps the most memorable.

I joined the organization in mid-2016, and since then I have grown to love the organization. There are many opportunities in the Jaycees, you just need to be willing to give some work and be open to it. During my first year as a member, it took awhile to participate, but I became active in events and projects, and soon joined the Board of Directors. During the early part of my second year, I became a representative for my chapter and unofficially our nation and attended our sister chapter, JCI Nagoya’s 3G Project. Upon my return, I jumped back into local chapter business and during the Mid-Year Convention I was awarded Most Outstanding Chapter Officer and given the Brownfield Memorial Award by JCI Hawaii. I then competed for the national recognition of the Brownfield Memorial Award at the National Convention, and unfortunately lost. However, during this experience I made many friends and was able to proudly connect with other US Jaycees. At Nationals, I was inspired to step up further from my position as a Vice-President and desired to help others to experience the opportunities I was able to have. So I decided to run for Chapter President, and here I am now, serving my chapter proudly.

All in all, the greatness of an organization is not just what it can offer, but members from within that yearn to grow in the organization and wanting to share it with others who can also benefit through membership. It is my hope that I would be able to help inspire and guide others, so I welcome young persons who hunger for these types of opportunities to work with me and build up the Hawaii Kai Jaycees.

Mahalo,

Joei R. Gomez

25th President of the Hawaii Kai Jaycees
